Groundskeeper is a personal gardening and outdoor-maintenance app. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it is used, and who it is shared with. Groundskeeper is operated by Jesse Haynes. Questions? Email jesse@jessehaynes.com.
Information we collect

| Email & password | To create and secure your account. Passwords are stored only as a salted hash, never in plain text. |
| Your garden content | Beds, crops, plants, notes, care tasks, pH readings, and yard features you add, this is the app's core function. |
| Photos you take or upload | To identify plants and pests, diagnose plant problems, and attach pictures to your records. |
| Approximate location | A location you enter yourself (a city or coordinates) to show local weather and an optional satellite view of your property. Groundskeeper does not track your device's live GPS location. |
| Notification token | Only if you turn on reminders, a push token so we can send you due-task notifications. |
| Basic technical logs | Standard server logs (such as IP address and request time) used to keep the service running and secure. |
How your information is shared
We do not sell your data, and we do not use third-party advertising or tracking analytics. To provide the app's features, some data is sent to the service providers below:
- Anthropic (Claude AI), when you use a Capture feature, the photo and related text are sent to Anthropic's API to identify or diagnose the plant or pest. Anthropic does not use this content to train its models.
- Open-Meteo, your entered coordinates are sent to fetch local weather. No account data is shared.
- Mapbox, if you enable the satellite property view, your entered coordinates are sent to load map imagery.
- DreamHost, our hosting provider, where your account and content are stored.
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the security and integrity of the service.
Data retention & your choices
Your content is kept until you delete it or ask us to delete your account. You can request account deletion at any time by emailing jesse@jessehaynes.com, and we will remove your account and associated content.
Security
All traffic is encrypted over HTTPS, passwords are hashed, and access to your data requires your authenticated session. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Children's privacy
Groundskeeper is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
